Every book is an experience. Then there are some with surround sound. Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown will make you feel cozy and rhythmic as you would in a swing, looking at the things that come within view. The cat, the mittens, the mush, the brush...A bunny is getting ready to sleep and all the thing in the room are pointed out to.

In the great green room
There was a telephone
And a red balloon
And a picture ofThe cow jumping over the moon
And there were three little bears sitting on chairs
And two little kittens

The illustrations by Clement Hurd, are drawn in an absurdist manner. A bright green room, red carpet, tiger skin rug on the floor, a picture of the cow jumping over the moon framed as one might a Van Gogh and kittens playing in the room. Hardly the conditions conducive to be lulled to sleep. The picture of the room with a wider view after each introduction is alternated with pages in black and white.

Contrasting this as the words, going sing-song, moving us from point to point, simultaneously lulling and making the reader curious. Once the room and the objects/persons in it have been introduced, the little bunny says goodbye to each, though not necessarily in the order of introduction.
