NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity

A Deeply Insightful Book About The History Of Autism

Steve Silverman's singular book on autism is a comprehensive and eye-opening read for those who want to know more about autism. Not just parents of autistic children or autistic children themselves, but anyone who seeks to know more about nuero-diversity and open their eyes to the sheer range of cognitive abilities around us.

Silverman's writing is engrossing as is evident in the chapter about Henry Cavendish who is know certainly thought to be on the autistic spectrum. His remarkable scientific achievements, his extreme need for solitude, several behavioural traits that were often thought to be quirks are all detailed; it seems plain to see but such was our ignorance about autistic people and their needs that we sought to fit them in a one-size-fits-all box.

Highly recommended to get started to learn about nuero-diversity.
