Arvind Gupta was trained as an engineer from India's premier institute the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur. He could have lived a life of great comfort and ease. Born into a family of four siblings Arvind was always fascinated by Science. He was keen children learn science by doing, rather than passively from books. After working for several years with children, he has archived books, articles and videos that children all over the world can use to make toys and truly understand the principles of science.
Toys from Trash is his key contribution. He believed that children can use everyday things that they find around them or reuse odds and bits to make toys for themselves and more importantly actually make things with their hands and thus learn.
His site arvindguptatoys.com is a real goldmine for children, teachers and schools to use to understand and use science like never before.
He and his team of fellow educators have tried, tested and made amazing toys to cover concepts in math, biology, astronomy, balance, electricity, friction and heat. Parents can join hands with children and use this site on a regular basis to learn and enjoy. All material is free to use.
The site also has books about famous scientists like Anna Marie, Homi Baba and their work. Works are available in Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Gujarati, Bengali, Malayalam, Assamese and some in Sindhi as well. All titles are available in English.
Please do visit and use the resources at this free site to bring science alive for children who are aged 5 and above.
